Artist Statement
Life on a barrier island, regardless of its location in the world, is exquisitely tenuous, creating a tension
between past, present, and future. This awareness informs what and how I paint.
Many of my paintings focus on interpreting how I perceive the ocean, sky, trees, and wildlife around me.
Others express reactions to the state of the world. Still others delve into the unconscious of memories.
My paintings are often layered or reworked because I do not stop until that aha moment arrives.
Here and now, I pursue a dialogue with nature exploring its mytery through abstract and
representational artwork, often illuminating Vero Beach, Florida's unique peronality as well as its
dreamscapes.
